Make a PDF smaller for an upload form

Forms for applications, visas, insurance and job portals often cap a file at 10, 5 or 2 MB. What makes a PDF big is nearly always the images in it, scans and photos. The text barely counts.

Shrink it

1. Open itfits.
2. Pick the form's limit: Upload 10, 5 or 2 MB, or Custom to type any size.
3. Add the PDF, then save it or share it to where you are uploading from.

itfits recompresses the photos inside the PDF and leaves the text, fonts and layout as they are. A PDF made only of scanned pages is redrawn page by page as smaller images. If the form takes several files, add them all: the limit applies to the set.

What it leaves alone

• A PDF locked with a password cannot be opened. Remove the password, then add it again.
• A signed PDF is kept as it is, because changing it would break the signature.

Why on your device matters here

IDs, contracts and medical letters are exactly the documents you should not hand to a website you do not know. Many free PDF compressors upload the file to their server. itfits never does: the work happens in your browser.
